“The Way To Save Our Culture From Extinction”

Ladies and gentleman, as we all know that, our lovely country Indonesia is a very rich, colorful, and beautiful country, we have everything that we need here. Such as, mines, Flora & Fauna, spices, cultures, and etc. But ,as you know my lovely audience ,the most rich thing in Indonesia, is the cultures. Why i said that? Because, Indonesia has a lot of amazing cultures from all over the country that symbolize the truly of Indonesian cultures. For examples, The Politeness among the people, The Friendliness, The Togetherness, Batik, Songket, and all of the exotic Indonesian traditional dance. Those are making us so proud to be an Indonesian right? Yes! I believe you are.

My lovely audience, unluckily I strongly believe that, there are some disasters in our pure culture right now. Especially, for Indonesian youth generation. Why I said that? Well, I give you the reasons why I said so. Here, I have 2 reasons for you. Actually there are a lot reasons, but here, with all of my respect I choose these 2 .reasons to be explained here.

First, Indonesian young generation, especially the youth tend to forget their own social culture, they don’t really respect their original social culture anymore, they just go on their individualism, impolite (especially to the older), and do not care to others. Based on that case, these are some of the Indonesian Social cultures that are forgotten by Teenagers: The Culture of Being Shame; The Politeness among the youth; “Gotong Royong” or which is called “mutual assistant”, and etc.

Second, Indonesian youth generation do not really love their Art Culture again, because the youth are more interested to Others Culture, such as, Western, Korean, France Cultures, and etc. As we know, Those Cultures, which is nowadays get in to Indonesia by globalization like idol groups, fashions and many more, in this situation will make the young generation loves less their own culture. Like modern games, yes, they prefer choose modern, than traditional games. Because the modern games that are very interesting, and had become a trend all over the youth .My lovely audience , let us flash back to the Traditional Games, Actually still a lot of cool toys and traditional games Such as, Benteng, Congklak, Kelereng, Asin, Gasing. Those are very interesting and challenging toys and games, it can make everybody move ,and sweat, and  experience all the “REAL” cool things in the game, but not fantasy, will make everybody so close to each other, it produce the nice relationship to others. they forget that, Indonesia, has a lot of cultures to be admire, has a lot of cultures to be learned, and has a lot of culture to be loved. Such as: Traditional Languages, Dances, Music, and also the Songs. All these sad things will make our country losing their precious young generation, which is as the culture inheritor.

Ladies and gentleman, those are the reason why I say that, there is a disaster in our pure culture right now. Especially for Indonesian youth generation. And now? What will we going to do? Do we just sit and watch all the disasters hit our precious young generation? No! I want to give the solution in 3 things , those are the action run by The Government, The Youth , and The Non-Govenrnental-Organization. So let’s start from The Government.

Well let’s start from The Government, do you know, my lovely audience ,that the Government has done some of the real actions to preserve our culture from extinction. Well, i have 5 actions for you to tell here First Make FLS2N (Festival Lomba Seni Nasional) National Art Competition Festival, Second The government has put the local curriculum to the school that contains the traditional culture from the Elementary School until the Senior High School, Third Doing some international culture promotion through the international advertisement, Fourth Doing some international culture festival in outside, or inside the country, Fifth doing some copyrights to the Indonesian cultures.

Well i think that’s from the real action from the government, and let’s go to the youth solution,
1. We must LOVE Indonesia, and our culture first. That is the first step to love our culture from extinction. Why we have to love our culture? Because, first we should have a great feeling to fight for something, and don’t forget, because LOVE is the most POWERFUL thing in the world. How do we love our culture? Learn from the past, from Indonesian history, when our heroes fight for Indonesia as tough as possible, how they defense the sovereign of our country, from the colonials, feel the strength of their love to Indonesia, remember, if you love your something, you will do everything for it, isn’t it?
2. Make some trendy Indonesian fashion and combine the modern fashion with batik, songket, ulos, and others Indonesian clothes. Such as: Dress, Shoes, High heels, Boots, T-Shirt, Schoolbag, Trendy Bag, Hat and many more. They will feel so fashionable and up to date ,but remember not only feel fashionable and up to date when wear that, but also we have participated in preserving our precious culture, and it will proved our nationality as an Indonesian in the eyes of the world.
3. Teenager must increase their self-confidence and the sense of proud when they wear Batik, “The Traditional Real Batik” and also The Combined Modern clothes when they hang out to the cool places, such as mall, cafe, KFC, and etc. We have to take lessons from our grandfather, grandmother, or maybe our Father and Mother, how could they so happy and proud when they wear Batik, that feeling comes truly from their heart. That’s the most precious lessons that we can take from them. If we don’t want our culture be extinct, we must confidence and proud of it right?
4. Make some High-Tech application in the communication field with some of Indonesian cultures, and compliments like, I-phone or Android case, make application that contains of Batik, Songket ,Ulos and others. Make some stickers in the Social Media, such as LINE, K-Talk, BBM, Whats Up, and etc. Like LINE that already make the sticker that contains of Batik.
5. We must teach our traditional culture ,and languages each other. For example, when we hang out with our friends from different place with us, so we don’t just know our own traditional language from our home, but we also know the other traditional language, and hang out with that Traditional Language.
6. Bring the traditional culture into the entertainment world. Such as make some cool comics, and film that contains of 100% Indonesian history, and legends, heroes such as borrobdudur , Malin Kundang film, and etc. The fim must uncovered all of the details plot, and take the moral value, so the young and youth generation will know the past story, or even admire it, and take the lesson from there.
7. Make the culture lovers club everywhere. So, it will straighten the sense of love and belonging to the people and cultures.

Well I think that’s from the real action from the government, and let’s go to the NGO solution
1. NGO (Nation Government Organization) should make some kinds of competition that competing all of the Traditional Culture of Indonesia, such as Dance, Music, Song Competition, and etc. Or Modern Mix Traditional Culture such as, Innovated Modern Traditional Dance, Music and Song competition, so the young generation will be get used to doing all of the Culture, and even though, will be the next Artist!!

2. For the Organization Government Private Encourage to make some Competition, such as Speech or Essay competition, that use the Traditional Language, such as, Javanese Speech or Sudanese Essay Competition, and etc.

Well, I think that’s all for the solution to save our culture from extinction. And that’s all depends on us, the youth generation! So the conclusion is, it is a must for us, as the youth generation to preserve, save and love our own Culture, and it needs our sense of belonging to each other, to our social culture, to our own culture. We have to fight for our culture from extinction, because we are the HERO that can save our culture. Like The President of the America say, “Don’t ask what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country” And also, our own precious first President of Indonesia, Soekarno said, “Give me 10 teenagers and i will shake the world!! So, it think that’s all from my speech, I hope these all can be useful for all of you.
